Objectives

The main objective of E-NACSOS programme is to enhance interoperability between national navies that operate with different combat systems and sensors: as such, E-NACSOS will define a common naval collaborative surveillance standard which will provide a shared tactical picture with improved situation awareness between allied forces.

E-NACSOS will tackle new and asymmetric threats from the Anti-Air-Warfare / Air & Missile Defence domain and enhance early warning, track recognition and identification of such threats to allow for a successful future naval collaborative engagement capability.

E-NACSOS activities will cover the definition of the standard (together with its protocol, interfaces…), and its functionalities as well as the functions that it will cover and the operational scenarios to be envisaged. Two test campaigns are foreseen in an incremental approach during E-NACSOS, where the partners will integrate the developments into their combat system demonstrators in order to conduct tests in an operational environment, within Battle Labs and/or at sea during operational exercise.

The E-NACSOS standard aims at being implemented onboard existing and future vessels’ combat system architectures and aims to provide real operational benefits to European navies.
